If we were to rent a boat between 17' and 24' (we are experienced power boaters in the Great Lakes, Canada) how long would it take to get to Nippers from Green Turtle and would it be an easy task if we had never been to the Abacos before? In other words, for those on this board with experience what do you think? Anyone that has made this trip care to comment? Thanks

You might be safer, have a better time and not worry about how many Nips you drink if you leave the driving to Brendal. He generally runs an RT to the Pig Roast every Sunday. Should you opt for your own devices then you are at the mercy of the Whale Cay passage which if it is acting up you would not want to do in a small boat. Or you can buy a Dodge Guide and find your way via the Don't Rock passage and avoid the Whale. I still suggest Brendal (Ch. 16 or 365 4411).

That is some great advice and Brendal is a helluva nice guy!

Check out Don't Rock Passage (http://www.************/DontRockPassage.html); the route from GT to Guana is presented in the article. You can do it 45 minutes on a reasonable day.
Check with the company you are renting the boat from. Some say not to go past No Name Cay and if you do, you are on you own should you have boat troubles.
You also need to play it by ear and may not know until the day of the pig roast whether the seas will be favorable for you. If you must go, I also recommend hitching a ride with Brendal. I think he does some snorkeling or dolphin watching on the way, so it is more than just a boat ride down.

Thank you all for your replies. Your answers really put the trip into perspective ..I think we'll just pass on Nippers.
Six more days...and we will be in the Abacos!!!
