A few weeks back, I posted www.yellowbirdabaco.com (http://www.yellowbirdabaco.com) as a cool website about a Bahamian mom building her own house on Guana. Today, she and her son arrived back on Guana to work on the house for a week. Late this afternoon, Diane got her fingers caught underneath her tablesaw. She was flown out to Nassau this evening. My husband brought Diane to Marsh Harbour via fast boat and her son Andrew stayed to find the missing digits and close up the hosue. Thanks to the crew on a fast boat at the Guana Government Dock at pitch-black 6pm who volunteered to bring her son who found the missing digits in the sawdust. Thank you to Anthony Roberts, a Guana Cay local, who navigated the fancy boat to Marsh Harbour to deliver her son and the important digits.

Never, ever, doubt the goodness in people. Thank you all. You are amazing.

I did not have a working VHF at my house. I ran to a neighbor's house and her door was locked. I tried to call via cell Troy at the Dive Guana Shop, but it was after hours and I did not have his home phone. I called Ashley at home of Guana Rescue for the Marsh Harbour Clinic's phone number. Many many phone calls later, we got Diane to great triage enroute to Nassau. POINT HERE IS: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A WORKING VHF RADIO WITH GOOD RECEPTION AT YOUR HOME! It would have been much easier for me to call on Guana Rescue and have the professionals handle it. Also, when you come here, make sure you have a plan for such things. Know what to do and who to call. Time is of the essence. I will purchase a new VHF right away. Didn't think I needed it, but I was wrong today.

Just spoke with someone at Diane's home in Nassau. Diane's son, Andrew had just gone to Doctor's Hospital where his Mom is recovering. Diane had surgery today. She has pain in the fingers, which is good news it means the nerves are working. Sounds like she has lost part of the thumb. I'll post more when I find out details.

Just got word from Nassau. Surgery this morning to re-attach the fingers. The middle finger survivablity is questionable and the top of thumb not possible. hand is very blue, doctors awaiting vascular re-acceptance. Diane is in good spirits and nothing keeps this gal down - she is amazing.

Thanks again to the Aussies on that great boat last night at the Government Dock on Guana and to Anthony Roberts and for all the prayers and offers of help.

I went up to her house today. She was cutting a piece of the parkeet flooring at the time of the accident. Will keep you posted. She would enjoy notes of encouragement from AMB Members. She loves her Abaco house and just is so happy when she is here on Guana.

Please share our thoughts and prayers from Virginia. Can anyone get her a discman and some Barefoot Man cd's? (Or something else local?) I think music helps heal body and soul, and Abaco music... it's just gotta be best!

Please let Dane know that we are all praying for her. I will put her name up on our prayer board at church.

Is there an address to send notes or should we just use this board? Don't see an option on her website. Certainly she is on our prayer list.
