Does anyone know what Normans Castle is? Is it a town? Is it really a castle on the west side of Abaco? I have tried to find out for a long time but cannot seem to find the answer! It is on all the maps but no explaination??

Thanks!

Norman's Castle was a lumber camp located on the west side of Abaco opposite Coco Plum Creek. It was built in the 1920's and by 1925 12 million board feet of lumber were exported. The commissioner at GTC reported that the majority of men in the district worked at Norman's Castle. The company built over 200 houses, a railroad to move timber to the mill and employed a doctor. You can read more about Norman's Castle and the history of Abaco in Steve Dodge's book "ABACO..The history of an out island and its cays..
