We are flying in tomorrow! PRoblem is, Delta bumped us from our flight - so we have to fly into Marsh Harbour, and they are paying for a taxi ride to Treasure Cay ferry dock.........

Here's our delema.....we have a 7 month old...... we probably should have a car seat, and we aren't bringing our own.

Anyone know the phone numbers of the taxi cabs in Marsh Harbour? Anyone know if child seats are law in the bahamas?

I can already smell the ocean air......I can't wait!!

Thanks for the help!!

Hi,
There are plenty of taxis waiting at the airport, so no problem there. Unfortunately, I can't find the ph# of any of them as I'm out of town at present. Most folks contact them on the marine VHF radio (CH 06) which is their 'stand-by' channel and main means of communication.
Personally, I'd doubt they carry a baby seat on board but you could ask the taxi driver on arrival if he/she knows if any other tax driver (waiting at the stand) is carrying one. Just get him/her to put out a call on CH 06 and ask.
If you could pick up a baby seat in, say, Wal-Mart on the way down that'd be your best option. To the best of my knowledge, there is no law about the use of baby or child seats. If there is, it's not strictly enforced. Peace of mind is more the issue here.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation.

Hi, As far as I know there is no law requiring infants to be in a car seat. May islanders carry their infants and small children in their lap. There is a cab driver whose name is Ada (She's great)and she works with Pelican Beach Villas. I wll PM you her phone numbers where she can be reached, and if she is unavailable I am sure she can connect you with one of the many cab drivers who can. Good luck.

Thanks again!

We have taken our grandsons with us many times and have always held them even when we did have the car seats that we used on the plane. (Always in back seat) It was fine and I don't think there is any law on it. Its like it use to be when my kids were babies! I guess I am just from the old school at heart. Have a great time!
