I'm getting married in 2 weeks. We are having a very small wedding and want to find the perfect, "feet-in-the-sand" location. We have a boat to get there. Our goal is a remote romantic location.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, it is a small wedding wedding so where we lack in guests, we would like to make up in beauty of the setting.

Thanks,
Claire

The Pelican Cays are small, deserted, and only about 10 -15 minutes south of Hopetown by boat. The largest is probably only about 2 acres and has a gorgeous sandy beach. It sits only a few hundred feet south of the southern end of Tilloo. Our friends got engaged on that cay last week, and we have renamed it "Celebration Beach". The first picture is on the beach, the second is part of the beach from the boat. There is a small stand of palm trees as a backdrop. It would be a gorgeous place to get married.

There is another cay just a bit south of the one Momshell mentions, almost directly across from Sandy Cay. We call it "brain coral" because there was a piece of brain coral sticking out that my wife stubbed her toe on and spent the rest of the day with her foot elevated, wrapped up and drinking cold Kaliks. Funny thing was is that three years later we went back and the piece of brain coral was still stuck in the sand at waters edge! In the 15 years we have been going we have only seen people on it once and only two boats have gone by the entire time.

Now if you're talking really remote, try some of the other Bahama islands down around the Exuma's. There are literally hundreds of them there.

Here's the pic of the cay in mention.

The last one is a place we called "three beaches". It is just south of Georgetown on Exuma and had three scalloped beautiful beaches. Was once some sort of resort I think, but the hurricanes and jungle have pretty much taken over. Have more pics, but resolution to high to post.

My husband, Michael, and I were married on Tahiti Beach back in 1998, pre-Floyd. In fact, Floyd hit on our first anniversary! It was gorgeous. We were married under the pine trees. In the video, you can hear the bugs chirping. We had pictures taken on the beach. I would so do it again. :D

Remarry, as much as I hate to admit it (and Abaco Angie, forgive me for saying it) but if you're looking for a REMOTE location for your wedding, Tahiti Beach may not fit the bill.

In the days when it was only accessible by boat, Tahiti Beach used to be lovely, remote and virtually deserted on most days. However, now that there's a road that goes practically right to the beach, things are different. One day this past May when we were there, I counted 20+ people on the beach. Not exactly the "uninhabited" feeling it sounds like you're going for.

Don't get me wrong, it's still one of the most gorgeous beaches I've ever seen... it's just a lot less remote and deserted than it used to be. :-( The price of progress, I guess.

I guess that is why some beaches in hawaii are so difficult to get to but are so beautiful. They are the ones that you would want to visit but they make it almost impossible unless you are a hiker. We all want to enjoy.

I second Flatfish's suggestion re the island just across from Sandy Cay. We were on that beach twice just last week and saw no one else. It is absolutely beautiful. You do have to be careful about tides and currents when approaching- you may have to get wet to make it to the beach.

Hi, Haziewaller. Thanks for your note. The wedding was wonderful! The entire week in GTC was a charmed time for us and our guests. We've just finished sorting thru the 1,000+ photos, and I'm just working on a trip report this week. Hope to have it posted within the next week or so. :-)
