I just tripped across this today, and never heard of it, I was wondering if it's still around on Lubbers?? At first I thought it might be Cracker P's, but judging from the picture I saw it doesn't look like it.

It has been closed several years- it is now actually falling down. It was located at the Lubbers public dock.

Yahoos was the first thing on Lubbers Quarters before Lubbers got ultra-cool. Yahoos suffered extreme damage in Hurricane Floyd, Sept 14, 1999.

Angie, you just identified Sinclair, our late webmaster, and Mermaid, who continues in his place.

We have some very fond memories of Yahoe's. The person on the left sitting down with the lime green shirt is Tim, the owner of Yahoes and Buster, his Jack Russell. I am sure he probably still owns the property there. He got badly beat up with Hurricane Floyd and became disillusioned with being a bar owner.
It was not a "falling down" place at all. It was an open air bar with a parachute for a roof.
Anyone remember the accidental band along with instruments that used to break out occasionally?
If anyone knows what Tim is up to these days, tell him Joanne and Steve from Delray Beach says "hey"!!!:)

Hey, thanks for the great memories. Tim is working a Winding Bay and doing well. Yahoo's was a great spot and definitely "one of it's kind".
I do remember accidental bands, amazing what people can use for an instrument. Lots of fun.....

Tim was the originator of the full moon parties and at Yahoes they were parties! It was fun, good food and good drink. Miss it.

.....the seven standing to the right are my crew. Tim has already been identified sitting on the left and to Sinc's right. Barbara is behind Tim standing. The couple on the left are from Park City, Utah - Hi JimG!! I think Jim has a "new life" now and flies his own plane back to Abaco from time to time with his children and new bride.

Wow! I remember walking to Yahoos from where we were staying on Lubbers (just north of there on the shoreline) and having baked coconut and a cold Kalik (gold, of course!) or two enjoying the breezes and views on the deck before the hurricane damage and eventual downfall. I guess that shows how long we've been going to the Abaco's if it's now coming up under "Archives"! Yikes!

I guess he just looked familiar as I had met Sinclar a couple of times with those nice blue eyes and I met Barbara once the day she bought her condo in his "office" more like a computer setup. Looked like a real cool place to have gone to, I would have liked it...too bad he did not rebuild it. I guess he was afraid it would happen again, too bad.

Yup. remember Yahoe well...........
Even saw one one night, Understand it's still living on the Island. Cracker P even took a shot at one.
For the uninformed..
"The Yahoe or Chickcarnie is a dwarf-like creature shaped like an owl with the same large, red staring eyes, three-toed feet and wings considered un-flightworthy. The feet are turned backwards and it has an unearthly cry heard at night when all good children are supposed to be in bed. One could readily believe that the creature exists on Lubbers, especially on a moonlit night."

when we were on Lubber's in May we saw what we assumed was a wild pig---maybe it was a Yahoe! It was about 3 am on a almost full moon---

Yahoes was one of a kind. We spent many hours there through it's history and had a lot of laughs. This post brings back a lot of fond memories. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner there one year with tablecloths and the whole nine yards. Tim worked his magic abd it was great while it lasted. I still have some free drink tickets...
Oh, and there are still a few yahoes seen locally on Lubbers from time to time...
