Is there a need for teachers in Abaco? How does one find out about schools there that are hiring?

We had a young teacher from Canada live with us this past school year. She first made a list of all the schools in Abaco ( from the local phone book ) , researched them online ( some have websites ) , phoned them all and then sent her resume to the schools looking to hire. She then followed that up with a phone call , got an interview with the Principal of Forest Heights Academy (a private school) and landed the job .

At present the Amy Roberts Primary School ( GTC) may be in need of teachers as the Principal has just retired. It is a Government school and you have to go through the Department of Education to apply. I presume preference will be given first to Bahamian teachers and then to foreign teachers presently living in the area who apply. There are many foreign teachers at all the schools in Abaco so there has to be a shortage of Bahamian teachers and therefor the work permits must be fairly easy to get .

Here are some phone numbers for the District Superintendent for the Department of Education in Abaco.

Applications ae available in Marsh Harbour , I think on the 2nd floor of the Dove Plaza.
Best of Luck !

I think Hope Town school needs a teacher for 4th and 5th graders. Candace Key is the principal.
