Well, we got back from our visit to Lubbers Quarters and I am telling you we had a great time. We could not believe how beautiful Hopetown was on our visit. Wound up staying at Green Bananas on Lubbers. I cannot say enough about the owner - Rhonda Hull. She came through for us when we thought we were going to be in trouble.

We rented a boat from Richs Rentals and it ran great, no problems except for the prop I trashed down around Pelican Cay.

My wife had a great time snorkeling and finding sea biscuits, and taking walks on Lubbers and winding up at Cracker P's was good also. We made a run down to Petes Pub in Little Harbour. They have the best fish sandwiches for lunch and a slaw that is out of this world.

We already making plans for another trip next year to return to the Bahamas.
It is really great to have a country with the beauty and resources so close to the US and easily accessible for our travels.

To those who live there, we are jealous, and we will see you next year!!!

Glad you had a great time. Lubbers, and Abaco, are the best places in the world to relax. I'm getting homesick for Lubbers. Do you have any pictures you can post?

For those staying on LQ, did you do much grocery shopping in MH? Were markets pretty well stocked? We've just booked at Sea Level for 4/09 and we prefer to do our own food/cooking most of the time.

We stay on Lubbers every year and do most of our cooking at the house. We do an intial stock up trip in Marsh, and as the trip progresses, we fill in at the small market in Hopetown. It is nice to see what baked goods they have there at Vernon's and also at the market right on the water. You will find pretty much everything you do stateside at the large market in Marsh, and all that you need in Hopetown.

First to Momshell,
Last year Atlanta was running desperately low on fresh water. No rain and I believe the Gov. wanted to restrict the amount of water that was being flushed down to Florida from the low water resources around Atlanta. Have things gotten any better?

To anyone,
I would like to know the depth of the water going through Tilloo Cut. Also, bought a house in Jamaica and it is hot with a high humidity - gotta move. Can anyone tell me the humidity in both the summer and winter in the Abacos.

Thanks, jstjr1

Still in a tough drought. Very little rain here in a long time. We are limited on outdoor watering, washing cars, etc. They have let up a bit on the restrictions, but since things are so dry again this year, I belive they will once again ban all outdoor watering before too long. Can't speak for the winter, but the humidity in the Abacos during summer has always been quite tolerable for us. Of course, the constant breeze we get on the water is cooling, and being from Atlanta, anything is better humidity wise than my hometown. Summer is too hot and humid here.

Just got back from a week at Sea Level. The markets in MH are well stocked. Vernon's and Harbor Side in HT are pretty good also. When you arrive, have your cab stop at the grocery store and liquor store in MH to stock up before your trip to LQ. We ended up leaving a bunch of food. We brought/bought a lot but ended up going out more than we planned.
